Heroes of the Storm Tournament for all TAW members
The day of their TAW-wide HOTS tournament is approaching fast so here is an updated post with all the information you need to know.
Sooo... tournament, eh? where? what? who?... That's right! The Heroes of the Storm division is organizing a TAW-wide tournament and we invite every single TAW member (regardless of the games you usually play) to sign up and have some cross-division fun or maybe even win the Grand Prize.
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort-zone and try something new as none of us are professional players, they do this for fun and even if you're completely new to the game HOTS has made it easy for you to sign up and have a team to join. (details below)
Previously, the following announcement was made, this is just an update / summary.
About the game
For those who aren't familiar with the game, HOTS is a MOBA-style game bringing together all heroic figures from all other Blizzard games and having two teams of 5 players battling each-other on objective-centered maps.
The game can be downloaded here, also you can check out the original trailer back from 2013 as well as this short video explaining the basics of the game (some parts of it are slightly outdated, but most of it still applies).
Tournament details
Date and time: The tournament is going to be on the 15th of July, starting at 2pm EST / 8pm CEST, we ask that you try to show up at least 10 minutes to half an hour earlier so we can start on schedule. (Your TAW event calendar should also have an entry for this)
The tournament is going to take place on the special Tournament realm, which you can access by selecting it as your realm in the Battle.net application / launcher.
This realm requires a separate install of the game, because it is one patch behind the current live versions, but all you have to do is hit the Install button after selecting the realm and it will automatically take care of it.
The HOTS division is going to use the in-game draft mode, which means each player must have access to 14 heroes (5 picks and 2 bans for each team). However don't be alarmed by this, since the game will give you 10 free to play heroes so all you need to do is unlock 4 additional ones, which can be done by playing a couple of quick matches for practice on any of the other live realms. (Tournament realm will give you access to heroes you own on other realms)
They will also have a prize to give out, which currently is a 10$ gift card (most likely steam or some other gaming platform) for each of the 5 members on the winning team, however this can increase based on future donations we might receive for the HOTS division till the day of the tournament.
Sign-up
You can sign up by going to this special website HOTS created just for that purpose (if you have problems, try it with Google Chrome)
There you can either register as a solo player and join any of the existing teams - if none are available you will have the option of creating a new team, which later on will appear in the selection to other people - OR you can gather your TAW buddies and register a pre-made team all at once with the Team registration (Instructions on the site)
The realm selection filters teams based on that realm, which is good in terms of having roughly the same ping etc, but since we moved to the Tournament realm in the meantime, it is not exclusive and you're free to join an NA team as a EU player or vice-versa.
You can see a list of currently signed up members here.
General conduct
HOTS would like to preserve the friendly aspect of this tournament so keep in mind that you MUST follow our Code of Ethics at all time.
Should any issues arise regarding proper conduct, we reserve the right to disqualify individuals / teams.
The tournament will be streamed on TAWTV so even if for some reason you can't sign-up, you will be able to watch some of the earlier games and all of the Semifinals / Finals

Brace yourselves, WAR is coming!
Dark times are on the rise in War Thunder, as war is far from over... In the upcoming weeks, War Thunder will be re-enacting the WW campaign during their mandatories. During the next couple of months, they will try to follow roughly some of the tank/plane line-ups. Depending on the outcome of the game the story could go all kinds of ways, an interesting project at the least! But the best part of it all; WAR member or not, you are most certainly invited to come and have a look or even participate by filling any of the gaps they may have during their mandatories! For more information, check out this link or get in touch with Reach [WAR 2 FS]!
TAWCraft is back!
Good news coming from the worlds of blocks, blocks and even more blocks. As some of you may or may not know, TAW Minecraft has gone through some rough couple of months. Thanks to some really good people however, MC has regained their strength as of today and doubled their size in the past 2 weeks; now counting 33 members! Within the next month, they will be splitting in 2 battalions again and slowly go back to the way it was…
To accommodate all of that exciting, good news Minecraft will be looking into upgrading their servers allowing more plug-ins and better reliability in terms of connection and what not… Excited to know more about it? Do not hesitate to join the TAWCraft’s channels!
