This new page was born out of the idea that the majority of TAW is built around our non-commissioned members. This page will represent those members with questions that will give insight into various subject matter, both personal and TAW related. Muzzel EDU- Master Gunnery Sergeant
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a college student in my second year studying computer science. I play rugby, work as a baseball Umpire, and cycle. When I am playing games I usually play shooters and turn based strategy games, but I love tabletop games as well. I do some small scale Source Engine mapping and love to teach myself how to improve and modify games that I play. I am very social and love to meet new people.
What is it that you do in the TAW Education Center (EDU)?
The TAW Education Center is in charge of producing training materials and lessons to improve TAW as a whole. Personally, I focus on writing the guides that EDU releases. My recent projects include the Website Navigation Guide, and the Boot Camp Guide. I am the PIA for EDU, and so I also work to make blog and forum posts to keep the community updated on what we are releasing.
If you had a crystal ball, what would you like to see in TAW’s future?
I would like to see more cross Divisional events and friendships. TAW is a huge community, and I wish we got to meet more of the members from other Divisions. Many TAW members play more than one game that TAW offers, and so I hope that in the future more people branch out and play with other Units. I personally hope to visit some of the Divisions that play games that I own, so that I can meet new people to play with outside of regular meetings.
What advice would you give to somebody considering a leadership position in TAW?
Ask for help. Don’t feel like asking for help means that you aren’t good at your job, or that you shouldn’t have it. If you are going to be in a leadership position, find people in your Unit who have held the position in the past. Ask them how they learned to do their job well, and if they have advice for you. Most will be glad to help you. If you are in Spin Up, or don’t have members in your unit with leadership experience, use the online classes to learn about your position. You can also ask your Chain of Command to talk to other Units who have members that can give you the advice and teaching that you need.
On a lighter side, can you tell us what was your favorite game in TAW and Why?
My favorite game is Insurgency, which is in 8th corps. Insurgency is a shooter that bridges the gap between realism and fast paced gameplay. I was a part of the Insurgency NA Battalion before I joined EDU, and I still play with them weekly. I enjoy it much more than I do other shooters, and Insurgency has a great community both inside and outside of TAW.
What is your favorite thing about TAW as a community?
I love the fact that I know that I will have a great group of people to play with several times per week. I prefer to play with people who are friendly and work together, and TAW provides that in a big way.
