EDU’s very first year in TAW. A year full of achievements, setbacks ... A year to dwell on and a year to be proud of. As a celebration, we listed some of the most remarkable moments in EDU’s still very young history.
April 17, 2016 It’s been a year (click here)
The day Sentinel became EDU. The beginning of a new chapter, filled with innovative ways of providing education to this massive online-gaming community called TAW.
December 1, 2016
After months of discussing content, creating material, and receiving approval, EDU launched the Online Classes for all TAW members to use. The classes have become a huge success with over 4000 classes started.
Today, EDU is still very motivated to keep this online platform going and invites all members of TAW to contribute to the classes through delivering feedback. EDU is constantly making small improvements to the classes from the feedback we receive. Your feedback means another step closer to a better experience for all of TAW to enjoy.
March, 2017
On March 11, EDU held their first University Class. A huge number of people showed up and gave positive feedback (A special thanks to Cherry for giving the presentation). A recording of this event can be found here. EDU has already begun creating more University Classes for everyone in TAW to enjoy, be on the lookout for the following topics in the next few months: Dealing with Drama, Public Speaking, Rolls and Ranks, and Communication & Organization. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding the date and time for the next one!
April, 2017
Early in April EDU finished and released the first of many TAW Guides. The first guide, which covers Website Navigation, should help many of you with common tasks of reporting events, taking attendance, and much more. Their guide can be found here or on the TAW Guides channel in TeamSpeak. More guides will be released soon; specifically the new Boot Camp Guide should be done in the next week or two.
Capt. Kareltjee [EDU CO]
“I am very proud of what my EDU-team has produced, and am excited for what the future holds. A big OOR-AH for EDU, may this be the first year of many more to come!”
Now with the courses all online, this enables EDU to continue their work with TAW U’s and TAW Guides as well as prepare for the learning curve of an entire new website coming soon. The true servant leadership exhibited and #rollyoursleevesup hard work paid off for this great community. With the biggest risk comes the biggest gain.”
Col. KingExotic [EDU DC]
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”
Col. MrHazz [EDU DO]
“There’s two important things in life: coffee, and EDU”
1st Lt. Sydan [EDU SO]
“I would like to thank all of EDU, current and past members, for putting in hundreds of hours to research and write the online classes, guides and universities. I hope that all of TAW can use the resources that EDU has provided to better themselves inside of TAW with the online classes and outside of TAW with Universities such as Servant Leadership, Public Speaking, Dealing with Drama and more. I am looking forward to another great year with EDU and can't wait to see what happens next.”
Gen. Cherry [CC OC]
“Last Spring [or Fall for those on the other side of the globe] Ops decided to make one of the largest cultural changes TAW has ever seen...change Sentinel to EDU. The old Sentinel stigma of ‘where games go to die’ needed to be changed as well as the evolution into the future of online learning to support this great community. It wasn’t an easy task as cultural changes within an organization never are. Through countless hours of sharing my vision and goals, the tide began to turn. The trust they bestowed upon me and our leadership team was unmatched and for that I am forever grateful. As we began to lay the new foundation it became evident it was a monumental task and my vision became a shared vision. To not only learn a new online learning management system but simply place the huge volume of content from the original platform into the LMS wasn’t easy and took countless hours of ‘all hands on deck’ work to pull off and boy-howdy did EDU ever.
