Tell us a little about yourself and your time in TAW.
Well, I’m 24 and a half, old student from Croatia, a tiny country somewhere in Europe. I study Information Science and right now I’m on half way of finishing my last 2 years. Some of my hobbies are tennis, krav maga, capoeira, snowboarding, skiing, wake skiing, and TAW :P
I joined TAW on end of 2015. As a member of the Vanguard division, Rainbow Six Siege. R6S was first the multiplayer game that I actually bought and in way of looking for a team I ended up in TAW community. As a person who loves big crowds and trolling this was the great choice for me. Starting as the regular member I ended up in Raven, the squad that did the craziest things in the game and somehow ended up being quite good in matches too. I still don’t know how we did that, but we did. After I went through a few positions in R6S, I ended in Operations Command - Graphics Division. If you ask me why I stayed there, the answer is simple; I can contribute to wide range of Divisions from here and I like graphic designing.
You have been in TAW since 2015, what would you say in your experience keeps TAW relevant in today's gaming community environment?
Staying relevant in today's gaming community environment is hard. The number of games and communities that are created every day is huge. TAW is keeping up, and that is for sure thanks to Vanguard Division that bring us all sort of new different games, but the part reason is for sure organization of TAW community. You don’t really see so well organized and structured gaming communities around.
In your experience, what is your philosophy on leadership and how has it evolved since you joined
TAW?
I had the privilege to start in Rainbow Six Division as Squad Leader and it was a great way to start my leadership developing. You need to make decisions, support members, work with them and the hardest thing, in key moments you need to have a cool head. Field Specialist position taught me an important lesson: you can’t make every member happy. Graphics Division, which is part of Operations, is a different story. New challenges, but this time in the shape of procedures, paperwork and managing work that GFX need to do; Much more responsibility to a wider range of divisions. Army and Operations, it doesn’t matter. My philosophy is that leaders need to have a few right skills and the right mindset. You need to be able to speak up your mind and work in a team. Losing is not bad, it’s your chance to improve. Encourage other members and motivate them. You won’t be able to make the best decision every time; mistakes will happen and failures too. A leader will bounce back, take responsibility and make sure to improve. Make sure to prize your members, and give credit. Understand your members because TAW is a gaming community, not all players are here just for the win. Some players are here to get connections, some are here to have fun, and some are here to take their mind away from the real world. A leader needs to understand why his members are here and to make sure that they enjoy their time in this community.
If you had a crystal ball, what would you like to see in TAW’s future?
Just one thing: “brotherhood” growing even more and more. And SheerRoachMonkey getting more and more Gump Medals.
What advice would you give to somebody considering a leadership position in TAW?
Don’t be scared, take your time to get acquainted with the TAW community. Learn from old members that hold position, see how they work and ask for opinions. We all learn from others and our experience, but that doesn’t mean that you need to be exactly the same as someone else. Improve, see mistakes and work on them. It will be a challenge, but no one is born as leader, they are made.
On a lighter side, can you tell us what was your favorite game in TAW and Why?
Rainbow Six Siege all the way. The game itself had so many problems on the start of lunch and I don’t think I need to mention anything about Ubisoft servers, but it’s realistic , winning without teamwork and communication is almost impossible. I love the concept of this game, drones, and variation of operators that you can play. I’m happy that they keep adding new in-game content and I hope that game itself will grow even more. Also, Rainbow Six Siege has The Lord Tachanka.
What is your favorite thing about TAW as a community?
The possibility of enjoying playing the games with a large number of people and possibility of contributing to the community itself.
