This new page was born out of the idea that the majority of TAW is built around our non-commissioned members. This page will represent those members with questions that will give insight into various subject matter, both personal and TAW related. Could you tell our readers a little about your personal life, e.g. where you’re from, do you work or are you still in school.
I live in New York very close to Lake Erie and I work in Hamburg installing in ground pools. My job is seasonal employment but from April to November I work 6 days of the week and the rest of the year allows me to devote towards hobbies such as gaming.
Could you give our readers some background on your gaming career?
I have been playing games since the day I got a computer in my room when I was in middle school 20 years later I’m still playing them. I started off playing starcraft and moved on to starcraft 2, league of legends, endless space, planetside 2 and many others the current game i love is World of Warships. I've always thought of myself as more of a tactical gamer and have loved most turn based or real time strategy games.
What brought you to the TAW community?
Something very simple they asked me if i wanted to play with them. I have never been good at communicating with other people so most of my gaming has been solo with a few good friends who stuck with me but some people in TAW asked if i wanted to play some matches with them and when they asked if i wanted to join TAW i said gladly.
What was your first impression of TAW?
Amazement. TAW was the first group i had seen that was across multiple games had hundreds of people in so many time zones and somehow they managed to keep things organized so that people could still have fun and play games.
From your point of view, what is one of the most important benefits of being in a gaming community such as TAW and why?
The people and the community. As I said before i've mostly been a solo gamer so now there are people i can rely on and who rely on me. There are people who will organize an event and people that want to go to that event, there are friends made and friends that move on who you may see in another game someday, there are people in the clan that want to know how you're doing and there is always someone who wants to play a game.
Do you at this point in time, have any aspirations of taking on a leadership role? If yes, why?
Yes I consider myself good at what I do because I put a lot of time and effort into it be it one game or something else entirely. But many games are team based and even if I am extremely good it does not guarantee a victory but what if I could teach someone what i have learned and taught myself could that help my team and therefor help me. Many people also get better from hard challenges if I can completely dominate an opponent and then teach him to the point that he can give me a run for my money that would help improve my skills as well. My 3rd reason is a tried and true one if you're going to teach someone something you will learn it better you think of tricks to remember or ways to simplify the information and by teaching others you improve yourself.
Do you have any special hobbies or activities outside of TAW?
I've always considered myself a nerd I like reading books playing single player games many of both being sci fi, fantasy and history genre.
