In the Scope
-Kareltjee
News is proud to be able to give the TAW community a brief look into Battalion Staff's personal lives as well as their responsibilities here in TAW. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for that opportunity. This month we have Bamsen from the Minecraft division under our scope. We also have the privilege of getting to know more about Knightsabre from the Crossouts division. Thank you both for the time committed in helping with this month's "In The Scope" edition.
Col. Bamsen - Minecraft Commanding Officer
Tell us a little about yourself and your time in TAW.
I started my life in TAW in 4th Corp under Quinoa, in Age of Conan & our CC’s at the time being Subrat & Taz. It was a great game, sadly it was an older game and was closed. Myself and Quinoa then joined Operation Support for a while. From there I spoke with DOC and asked him "Hey buddy why don’t we have a World of Warcraft Division", he said "Well it was tried 6 times!" But with dedication and a lot of help from DOC, months later in Vanguard, we were approved to become an actual division with DOC as our CC. Two years in World of Warcraft as DC I was asked to join the VG Staff as DC where I helped spin up a few games. Eventually I left for some time but returned to join Archeage, my family, my favorite go-to game for a fresh atmosphere MMORPG where you build your world. I’m currently the Commanding Officer of Minecraft.
You have been in TAW since November 2011, what would you say in your experience keep’s TAW relevant in todays gaming community environment?
The community, the family & friends that really were for a long time all I had, I lost my mom and father and this was my home and still remains to be my home, i’m engaged now with my partners Stormwolfe & Cocoa who are both TAW! The relationships and bounds you have in this community you can’t find anywhere else!
In your experience, what is your philosophy on leadership and how has it evolved since you joined TAW?
I have two important ones which is :
- Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: So long and thanks for all the fish. This is based of a book, however I base it off teaching a man to fish, if you teach him he doesn't go hungry!
- St. Jerome: Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best.I believe if everyone tries not just for their best but to wield that and make it your better nothing will stop you but yourself so keep trying keep working & Never give up!
If you had a crystal ball, what would you like to see in TAW’s future?
3.0! I've been in two over the past five years with Icarus bringing in the reins of our current website but would like to see our next one completed, I would also like to see Doc serving his next term! (jk doc)
What advice would you give to somebody considering a leadership position in TAW?
Never give up on inspiration and thoughts join for the service not the tags or entitlement but to make things better & because you truly enjoy the game! Main importance in TAW is to make sure we are having fun and not always be so serious.
Of all the games that you have played in TAW, do you have a favorite and why?
Well it’s got to be top down World of Warcraft it’s my baby, I feel that the game has had such a hard time in TAW and its fallen so many times but now on its 4th year streak it's here to stay unless the developers stop, It's truly what binds me to this community and reminds me of the friendships made.
What is your favorite thing about TAW as a community?
The people, even when I was going through hard time my TAW family were there for me. A phone call from a fellow brother or sister when I was crying or hurt in real life and even gifts and Christmas cards from those close friends. It’s the love and passion that is in the air, that I love.
Capt. Knightsabre - Crossouts EU Executive Officer
Tell us a little about yourself and your time in TAW.
I started with TAW back in October 2015, and I have had a rewarding and enjoyable time with new friends.
You have been in TAW since November 2011, what would you say in your experience keep’s TAW relevant in todays gaming community environment?
I joined in October 2015. TAW’s leadership and its diversity. So many peoples willingness to come together under one roof and their eagerness to get along!
In your experience, what is your philosophy on leadership and how has it evolved since you joined TAW?
A leader is not the guy who orders people, but a leader rather is in the mix with everyone and willing to lead by example. For me, it evolves every day with new information I learn from questions I ask and questions that get asked of me.
If you had a crystal ball, what would you like to see in TAW’s future?
A much more cohesiveness between all levels of Command and possibly a set in stone set of Rules. Guide lines are great, but not totally efficient.
What advice would you give to somebody considering a leadership position in TAW?
Take a look at yourself and ask yourself "Do I possess the dedication it requires to follow and be a leader?".
Of all the games that you have played in TAW, do you have a favorite and why?
World of Warships, I come from a USN family and I enjoy the ships of the past. They seem to have beauty and grace to them.
What is your favorite thing about TAW as a community?
Friendships & Knowledge.
