TAW EDU: Communication Skills University Class
-Muzzle
On July 23, the TAW Education Center [EDU] hosted another leadership seminar focusing on how members can improve the communication within their units. The class, officially titled TAW University: Communication Skills 101, was presented by 1LT. Sydan [EDU XO] and discussed the the different strategies and skills all TAW members can use to more successfully communicate with other members.
The information presented in this class covered many of the common do’s and don’ts of communicating with other people. The skills taught during this class will help leaders avoid conflict and misunderstanding within their units. Some of the information in this class also applies to life outside of TAW, as everyone communicates with many people in our daily lives. The class ended with a Q and A session where Sydan game some specific recommendations to some of the members in attendance.
EDU would like to thank everyone who attended for their interest and support, and hopes to bring more classes like "Communication Skills 101" to the members of TAW for the foreseeable future. EDU is looking forward to the next TAW U on August 20th at 3:00 EST, which is titled “Managing Time Part 1”. We hope you will be able to attend.

❗ TAW U - Managing Time (Part 1) ❗
The first of two seminars about being more productive with your time...
TAW EDU is excited to announce that the next TAW University class will be held on August 20th, at 3:00PM EST/9:00PM CET. This will be the first class in a two part series on Time Management. Time management is a skill that allows leaders to get more done, and makes anyone's job easier and more satisfactory. Sydan [EDU XO] will be the instructor for this class, and says that this class may be one of the most detailed classes he has taught so far. The class will teach members the importance of task prioritization, and how it can improve the efficiency of important tasks. Members will also learn how to set and keep goals in a timely manner, and how to plan your time to work towards your goals.
Everyone in TAW is invited to attend this class, and it will appear on your events calendar on the taw.net homepage. We encourage you to attend if you are free on the 20th and we hope you are able to come to part 2 next month as well. Part 1 and 2 can be experienced separately, and so if you can only attend one they will still be a valuable experience to have. Please spread the word to your fellow members, so that this class can benefit as much of the community as possible. EDU is grateful for the support this series has received so far, and based on the positive feedback we hope to continue this for the many months ahead.
So join us in TeamSpeak on August 20th, in Operations. You will see the class on your Event Calendar. If you cannot attend the class, be on the lookout for the video recording, which we will post later after the event.

We have some huge announcements to make in this edition of From The Battlefield, ranging from promotions and recruitment to sharing some of the praise TAW received from both members and outsiders - showing that we still truly stand out as a premier online gaming community!
Promotions
As most already know, we've had a major leadership shift within the Social Operatins Corps - with Firetas having gone into lifetime membership so he can commit to his career IRL, LaraCroft has stepped up as SOC Corps Commander. Sloan has backfilled the position of SOC Corps Lt. Commander, and also gained a shiny silver star due to his promotion to Brigadier General (bye-bye birdy).
Down to the division level of SOCOP, Arianni has stepped up to Division Commander and JWhinchat recently became our SOCOP PIA and will furthermore be liaising with all other Public Information Administrators in TAW, along with his counterpart MrsHeidebitt.
SOCOP is recruiting!
SOCOP is currently looking for volunteers to help administer TAW's media in both the EU and NA regions. For those who don't know, we currently manage Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Steam and Youtube, (help) organise TAW-wide events and provide guidance and support to TAW's PIA's - unfortunately on a bit of a reduced headcount right now.
Requirements for all positions:
- Active member in good standing
- 18+
- SGT+ rank obtained within TAW (exceptions can be made)
- Fluent in English (verbally and written)
- Ability to attend regular meetings
- Decent general knowledge about social media
- Creative mindset & writing skills

Last but not least, I am proud to announce that we've only had 5 star ratings on Facebook since reviews have gone live a couple of months ago. Please feel free to let the world know what you think about TAW by submitting a review on our Facebook page.
